Adult acne is a form of acne vulgaris that can affect adults over 30 years of age. Adult acne can happen to those who had no problems with acne as a teenager. As acne is normally associated with the hormonal
fluctuations that occur during puberty, the appearance of adult acne
should be investigated to find out the underlying causes--especially
when it appears for the first time in adulthood. Medication As stated earlier, some medications can induce adult
acne. These medications include anabolic steroids, anti-epileptic
medications, anti-tuberculosis drugs rifampin and isoniazid, lithium and
medications that contain iodine. Remember to inform your doctor about
your adult acne condition before taking any medication. External forces on the skin as a result of wearing a
helmet or carrying a backpack, may create pressure against the skin,
leading to breakouts. (See
acne mechanica) Working in particular types of working environments
can result in acne-like symptoms or even chloracne, an occupational skin
disorder caused by prolonged exposure to chemicals such as chlorinated
dioxins. Alteration in the body’s hormonal balance, possibly caused by pregnancy or menstruation, may also result in adult acne. Home | Acne | Anti-Aging | Skin Types And Care Natural Skin Care | SiteMap | Contact Us | Others Copyright © 2006 - www.TrulyBeauty.com. All Rights Reserved.
