1) Acne Vulgaris

Acne vulgaris is the most common type of acne. It mainly affects adolescents but may persist and become more severe as one reaches adulthood. It is characterized by blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts.

2) Adult Acne

Adult acne is a form of acne vulgaris that can affect adults over 30 years of age. This type of acne can be due to resurface of adolescent acne vulgaris, pregnancy or due to some medical conditions.

3) Rosacea

Rosacea is similar to acne vulgaris, but it is not acne. People with rosacea are also characterized by oily skin, pimples and pustules but they also experience skin flushing and a general redness of the area. In general, the treatment for rosacea is different from common acne and proper consultation may be required.

4) Acne Mechanica

This type of acne is caused by external mechanical forces like constant pressure, constant and repeated friction, covered skin, and heat. It is common among factory workers, soldiers and other uniformed professionals.

5) Acne Cosmetica

This type of acne is caused by the use of cosmetics or some chemicals. It is characterized by small, rashy, pink bumps on the cheek, chin and forehead. It can also be caused by some hair cosmetics such as Promade.

6) Excoriated Acne

Excoriated Acne is caused by obsessive picks and scrapes at every pimple by the person suffering from it. This type of acne can result in deep irritation of skin and thus scarring.

7) Infant Acne
