How Lily Collins Does Beauty

How Lily Collins Does Beauty
by Truly Beauty

Anyone else been fixated on the Netflix series, Emily in ParisOr maybe it's not the series itself you're obsessed with, but the fashion-savvy, bold-browed babe playing the role of Emily Cooper, aka, Lily Collins.

With her statement brows, vivid green eyes, and flawless complexion, model and actress Lily Collins is a complete and utter beauty icon. Whether she's gracing the red carpet or snapping selfies for her Insta page, Collins always seems to nail her natural beauty looks. So what's the secret to those French girl-fresh faced vibes?

Here are the beauty rules Lily Collins lives by. And that we're about to...

She Starts Her Day with a 4-Step Skincare Routine

Back in 2016, Collins described her morning skincare regimen to The New York Times, saying she starts by splashing cold water on her face to wake her up, followed by a slew of Lancôme products (cleanser, toner, and face cream) and finished with a layer of sunscreen.

That's what any good beauty routine should look like. Cleansing, hydrating, and protecting are the essentials of any good skincare routine, and by the sounds of it, Collins has got them down to a T! No wonder her skin looks so glowy and smooth wherever she's at!

She Re-Applies Hand Cream Throughout the Day

Skincare doesn't just apply to the face, you know. Nobody knows this better than Collins herself, which is why she's constantly re-applying hand cream.

"I’m really big on soft hands," Collins tells Elle Canada. "My grandmother always used to say, make sure that your hands feel soft."

Besides making them feel super soft all day long, keeping hands moisturized protects them from drying out and showing signs of aging. Since the skin on the hands is super delicate, they're one of the first places to show signs of aging. You can't go wrong with a little paw pampering.

Product pick:  Pineapple Haze Hand and Foot Cream.

Brow Gel's Her Best Weapon

Obviously, Lily Collins has insanely amazing brows. It turns out, her famous Audrey Hepburn-style arches aren't down to skilled brow shapers, but plain old genetics. Yep, she was born with those baddies! *sigh*

According to her makeup artist Fiona Stiles, very little grooming goes on when she’s getting Collins' brows ready.

"I do always brush them through with a spoolie and I’ll often set them with a brow pomade or gel," says Stiles. "Occasionally I’ll [fill in] a little here or there, but as I said, she just has naturally amazing brows."

The actress herself recently told Vogue something similar, saying she swipes highlighter under the brow, then brushes the hair up and over. Easy!

She Keeps Her Makeup Looks Simple

The former face of Chanel has a motto: "The less there is on you, the less there is to go wrong." Ermmm...Parisian vibes!

When she does wear makeup, she sticks to a few essentials: a little foundation, a swipe of mascara, a little brow gel, and lip balm

On special occasions -- like for Hollywood award ceremonies, the Met Gala, and other glam events -- she'll extend her makeup routine with a few extras such as eyeliner, eyeshadow, lip gloss, and concealer. In some instances, she may even rock a red lip, but she'll always go with a deep plum hue to complement her ivory skin tone

But on a general day-to-day basis, Collins keeps her makeup routine almost as simple as her beauty regimen.

Coconut Oil is Her DIY Dry Skin Fix

You don't always need lush beauty products to get the job done. Often, the things you find in your kitchen can do just as good of a job. Like coconut oil for instance.

Rich in vitamin E, fatty acids, and deeply-nurturing moisture, coconut oil nourishes, moisturizes, heals, and supports skin health. It'll leave your skin feeling smoother than ever. Since it's technically an occlusive, pair it with a humectant like hyaluronic acid or glycerin to lock in long-lasting hydration

Lily Collins swears by coconut oil for its moisturizing abilities.

"If I’m feeling dry, I’ll also put liquid coconut oil on my body," Lily told The New York Times. "I just get it at Whole Foods."

Product pick: Blueberry Kush CBD Body Lotion.

She Always Removes Her Makeup

It's a simple one, but nevertheless a CRUCIAL one. Then again, when you've got access to some of Los Angeles' greatest dermatologists, it's one rule she's bound to hear all the time.

"I think it’s so important to take your makeup off at the end of the day, to let your skin breathe, and to start fresh the next day," says Collins. "I know sometimes it can get late and we think we’re going to do it in the morning, but it’s just such a nice feeling to wake up fresh and hydrated."

Plus, it stops your pores from becoming clogged, warding off breakouts and keeping your skin clear.

Dry Shampoo is Her Fave Hair Booster

Since she's one of our all-time fave hair icons, we were so happy to hear Lily loves dry shampoo just as much as the rest us. And like us -- she too uses it extend the life of her hairstyles

"I’m constantly using dry shampoo to give my hair extra oomph and to preserve the life of my blowout for as long as possible," Collins tells InStyle. "I’m not one to wash my hair every day. Whenever my hairstylist gets me ready for an event, I’m like, “You do realize I’m going to keep my hair like this for a few days, right?”"

We hope you've had fun scrolling through these Lily Collins beauty tips. We had fun finding them for you! Anyone else impatiently awaiting Emily in Paris season 3? The second season was soo darn good.

Time to watch re-runs, and slather our bodies in coconut oil!
