How Scarlett Johansson Embraces Clean Skincare

How Scarlett Johansson Embraces Clean Skincare
by Truly Beauty

Everyone from Rihanna to Ariana Grande to the Kardashian/Jenner family have developed their own skincare lines. Now Scarlett Johansson's taking a stab at it.

The Marvel star is the latest celeb to release a celebrity beauty line. Only it will be a little different to the rest, as ScarJo's will be rooted in self-care and adopt "a clean, accessible approach to beauty."

Funded by the Najafi Companies, the label shares the same investor as brands like Tracee Ellis Ross’s hair-care line Pattern and Millie Bobby Brown’s Gen-Z beauty line Florence by Mills.

According to co-founder Kate Foster, this won’t be just another celebrity beauty brand. In Foster's words, it'll be "a brand that fills a void in the market and addresses a true consumer need."

Scarlett Johansson's Skincare Brand

The Hollywood starlet is famous for her iconic roles, as well as for her flawless red carpet fashion sense and undeniable beauty. So what made her decide to launch her own beauty products?

"I’ve been fascinated by the transformative power of beauty since I was a child. My mother instilled in me a passion for self care from my early teenage years. Several years ago, I took a step back from my beauty deals with the goal of creating something true to me. The result is a clean, accessible approach to beauty," Johansson said in a statement.

Jahm Najafi, founder and CEO of The Najafi Companies said in a press release: "It’s so rare to find the right partners with the right products at the right time. With Scarlett and Kate, it became immediately clear to us that this is a special opportunity."

Najafi continued, "Scarlett has been on a mission and her level of commitment, engagement and passion is both inspiring and a key differentiator in the marketplace."

In anticipation of the launch, the actress stepped away from her collaborations with brands like L'Oréal Paris and Dolce & Gabbana to prevent conflicts and emphasize the line's mission.

"This last year has really allowed me to dedicate a ton of time to it," Scarlett shared via Zoom on Good Morning America. "It's been a labor of love, but I'm so excited to share that with the world."

WHEN DOES IT DROP?

Early 2022, according to the reports.

Yep, we've got a while to wait, but at least we know we're expecting something great.

As for the why now questions...

"I created this brand to elevate clean, essential skin care," she told Allure. "This will be a brand for everyone who wants their skin to look its best with minimal effort."

With a growing demand for clean and ethical skincare products, we're confident Johansson's upcoming line will see a lot of success. It's important for the world to see stars embracing green skincare, as it encourages others to follow suit. And we want the best for our planet, right?

Besides being good for the planet, clean skincare products are also better for our health.

HOW SCARLETT JOHANSSON DOES SKINCARE

When it comes to skincare, Johansson claims she doesn't do anything special.

Her skincare routine is actually pretty straightforward focused on using cleansing milks and creams that hydrate rather than strip the skin of its natural oils.

According to her makeup artist Frankie Boyd, the actress gets her glow from their collective favorites which include a moisturizer cocktail made by mixing face cream with face oil to develop a moisturizing complex that preps the skin for makeup application. Her beauty routine also incorporates nourishing skincare products like hyaluronic acid facial serum and hemp oil moisturizer for maximum hydration and calming effects. Johansson also relies on a daily caffeine-infused eye cream to keep her peepers wide and alert.

As for her daily routine, Johansson told HuffPost back in 2017, "I have sensitive skin, so I use actually just Cetaphil face wash and Clarins moisturizer. And as far as makeup -- I don't wear a lot of makeup during the day. I mean, day-to-day I'll use concealer, blush, eyeliner, mascara." Overall, she points out that she favors a natural look.

If you're looking for similar products, we recommend Truly's Cream Skin Face Cream, a lightweight, hydrating face cream formulated with hyaluronic acid for day-long hydration and dewiness. Another great choice: Truly's Hemp Oil Facial Serum. And if you're seeking a smoothing, brightening eye cream try Truly's Eye Candy Anti-Puff Eye Cream

All our products are clean, vegan, and cruelty-free!

SCARLETT JOHANSSON BEAUTY TIPS

The Black Widow star may have gained a lot of beauty wisdom from Hollywood makeup artists, but she claims she also learned a lot from her mom.

"My mom would always say, "Drink a lot of water and get a lot of sleep and don't smoke." So I follow some of those rules," she told HuffPost. "And growing up, my mom always wore a lot of makeup. My mom was very glamorous. I used to sit at her vanity and use her makeup."

While you'd think Johansson would also swear by skincare elixirs like retinol, she hasn't been entirely open about all the products she uses and whether or not she's a retinol fan. Those secrets are under lock and key at present.

Whatever she's using and doing - she's clearly doing a great job. Her complexion is radiant!

What Fans are Saying

The beauty industry has saw a lot of celebrity beauty lines appearing over the past few months. Nevertheless, fans are still freaking out about the launch.

"Internal thoughts: Now is the time to stop spending your money on books and buy makeup you probably won’t use just because it’s from the beauty line of Scarlett Johansson," wrote one fan

While another wrote, "If there’s anyone I believe has a true and natural beauty, no photoshop, no artifice, it’s Scarlett Johansson. So I’m certainly going to buy her products."

Us too! This is going to be the best beauty line ever, and we cannot wait!
