From ice water plunges to serums and creams, the Tom Cruise skincare routine isn’t low maintenance but it is relatively easy to replicate at home. Over the past decade, Tom Cruise has become just as famous for his youthful looks as he is for his starring roles in Top Gun, Jack Reacher, and the Mission: Impossible franchise.

At 61 years old, how does this Hollywood icon stay looking so young? Ahead, the full Tom Cruise skincare routine.

Tom Cruise Skincare Routine

What’s his secret for staying wrinkle-free? According to an inside source for the National Enquirer, Tom Cruise has a 30-minute facial routine that consists of several products. Here’s a breakdown of the routine.

Step 1: Ice Water Plunge

He starts his skincare regimen by plunging his face into ice water for 60 seconds. It might not sound very appealing, but cold-water plunges have some serious skincare benefits. Due to the cold temperatures, blood vessels in the skin constrict and promote blood circulation. When the blood vessels dilate again, skin will appear noticeably brighter, tighter, and less puffy.

Step 2: Cleanser

Next up is cleanser. No skincare routine should start without cleanser. Cleansing removes dirt, sebum, and dead cells to prevent clogged pores and blemishes while allowing other skincare products to absorb better into the skin to maximize their effects.

Step 3: Toner

While we can’t find any deets on Tom Cruise’s fave toner, the source says he uses it in his 30-minute facial routine. Toners aren’t what they used to be. Instead of the harsh, drying astringents of years before, toners are now hydrating, soothing formulas that help to calm redness and retain moisture. Plus, they give skin a nice natural glow.

Step 4: Face Serum

Next up in the Tom Cruise skincare routine is serum. While it’s not clear what serum the actor uses, it’s likely his dermatologist has recommended serums that include ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid, or peptides. As these are powerhouse anti-agers!

Retinol is one of the best active ingredients for targeting fine lines and wrinkles. It does so by increasing collagen production and enhancing skin’s elasticity, which results in smoother, firmer skin. However, hyaluronic acid and peptides also stimulate these actions and are generally well tolerated by all skin types.

Step 5: Eye Serum

As we age, little creases around the eyes develop. To soften their appearance and prevent future lines from forming, Tom Cruise turns to eye serum. Again, while it’s not clear what eye serum he uses, we could speculate that it would contain ingredients like caffeine and retinol. These constrict the blood vessels and tighten skin to smooth the eye area.

Step 6: Eye Cream

Now that the serum’s on, the star follows up with eye cream. This helps to lock in moisture and all those active ingredients from the eye serum. One of the great things about eye cream is that it makes the eye area appear visibly brighter and plumper after the first use.

The skin in that area is extra delicate, so pampering it with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, shea butter, and coconut oil can really help to nourish the skin and soften lines.

Step 7: Face Moisturizer

Moisturizer is a must in your skincare routine—and clearly, Tom Cruise knows it. Moisturizer isn’t just about making your skin feel nice and soft. It actually supports your skin’s barrier function to protect against external aggressors and irritants that can cause irritation and signs of aging.

When choosing a moisturizer, look for one that includes emollients and humectants like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, shea butter, and jojoba oil. While we don’t know what moisturizer Tom Cruise uses, we’d expect it would contain at least one of these powerhouse moisture drenching ingredients.

Step 8: Neck Cream

The final step in the Tom Cruise skincare routine is neck cream. Not enough people use neck cream. In fact, the neck area generally gets neglected, which is why it’s prone to fine lines and dark spots. People slather their faces in serums, moisturizers, and sunscreens but they tend to skip the neck.

Tom Cruise knows not to neglect your neck when it comes to looking youthful. That’s why he finishes his routine with a generous layer of neck cream.
